When it comes to exports, air freight is a mode of choice especially when a significant portion of international outbound freight from the New York/Northeast region is bound for points in the Caribbean and Latin America. Amerijet International Airlines is a Miami-based all-cargo carrier offering dedicated B767 and B727 freighter service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and 38 destinations, including Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America.

Strong Northeast regional network to the world via Miami

Building on established relationships with freight forwarders and the direct shipper community in the Northeast, Amerijet offers unparalleled service from the region to Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Latin America with convenient pickup of freight, and drop-off facilities.

“Across our Northeast markets and branch offices, we work closely with a mix of freight forwarders, direct shippers and manufacturers, in addition to consumers for walk-in traffic,” said Richard Hernandez, Northeast Regional Manager with Amerijet in Jamaica, New York. Forwarders and direct shippers can drop off their freight at Amerijet stations at New York’s JFK airport, Washington Dulles (IAD) airport, Newark (EWR) Liberty airport. Or, Amerijet drop off freight in Philadelphia and Brooklyn (New York) drop-off stations.

Popular cargo destinations served by Amerijet from the entire Northeast region in the Caribbean include Antigua, Cayman Islands, Grenada, Haiti, St. Thomas, Trinidad and St. Vincent. Additional destinations from the region which Amerijet arranges through its many interline arrangements with major airlines include Buenos Aires, Argentina; Santiago, Chile; and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In addition to scheduled service on interline air carriers to expedite freight at Northeast U.S. airports, Amerijet operates three-times-weekly regular truck service from its leading markets of JFK, Brooklyn, ERW, and Philadelphia on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday with tandem drivers for fast service to MIA. Plus, Amerijet daily scheduled truck service from IAD to MIA is relied upon for government-related shipments of defense and infrastructure equipment to destinations that include San Juan, Puerto Rico; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Panama City, Panama; Managua, Nicaragua, and San Salvador, El Salvador.

Trending freight includes generators and construction supplies, medicines and retail goods bound for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean to support the re-building following last year’s Hurricane Maria, and similar shipments to Mexico after two earthquakes. Amerijet also handles human remains. “We have a strong business in human remains for those sent back to their motherland in the Caribbean, and also funeral supplies,” Hernandez said.

The Amerijet Touch

“We have a lot of flexibility as an airline. We have brick-and-mortar locations and dedicated employees that are all accountable to ensure a high level of service,” Hernandez said.
