Vice President, Safety

Tom Nunn comes from Alaska Air Group, where he was Vice President of Safety and Security overseeing the safety management system and aviation security at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. His responsibilities included flight safety, maintenance safety, inflight safety, airport operations safety, safety assurance, biannual external audits, and other processes. A 37-year industry veteran, Nunn joined Alaska in 2008 from Lynx Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Frontier Airlines Holdings. Nunn served as president and chief operating officer, building the airline from the ground up.

Nunn also served as vice president and director of Frontier Airlines’ aviation safety and security program, managing all aspects of airline safety, security and regulatory compliance. In this role, he developed a safety program to support the carrier’s rapid growth and need for heightened security following 9/11.

Before Frontier, Nunn worked at Northwest Airlines for 18 years as director of operations analysis and emergency management, and as flight dispatch manager. He also worked at Western Airlines.

Nunn began his career as a Marine, providing security detail to the United States Capitol and White House during President Jimmy Carter’s administration.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and computer science with a minor in aviation management from Minnesota State University.
